Dark Knight

Dark Knight is a very solid movie.
I especially like this reinvention of the Joker. The writing and performance for it are excellent.
If you like gritty action movies, catch it in theaters.

Minor Complaints
I wasn't 100% sold on Harvey Dent. I don't think the writing was there to make it work -- felt like there were too many jumps at the end, probably a lot of character development left on the cutting room floor. They should have saved him for a different movie. 90 minutes of Batman vs. Joker would have been better.
I didn't like the "cell phone" bit at the end for a couple reasons. (1) forced Freeman to get preachy/topical, and (2) it's just terribad science. I didn't like the "microwave" bits in Batman Begins for similar reasons.
I agree with this quote from Broken scope on Slashdot:

posted by pfunk on 2008-06-30 14:09:57I'm pretty satisfied with my simple cartoon guy model, so I want to build up a library of textures/models for it.
I'm thinking about basic RPG staples, so:
Clothing
- Cloth Armor (peasant clothes)
- Leather/Hide Armor
- Chain/Ring Mail Armor
- Plate Armor
- Ninja Armor
- Samurai cloth
- Samurai splint mail
- Wizard robe
Melee Weapons
- Dagger
- Shortsword
- Longsword (already done)
- Mace (1H, 2H)
- Hammer (1H, 2H) (Sledge already done)
- 2H Sword
- Katana (already done)
Ranged Weapons
- Shortbow
- Longbow
- Crossbow
Telecom Immunity
posted by pfunk on 2008-06-27 09:34:49I don't really care about this law being passed to grant retroactive immunity to Telecoms. For those not keeping up, this has to do with AT&T, etc, allowing the govt to wiretap domestic calls.
I don't know why people are intent on blaming the Telecoms. Can't expect private companies to always stand up against the government. The telecoms were in a lose-lose situation, or did not second-guess the FBI.
We should be upset at the real culprits, our intelligence agencies. You know, the guys who demanded a tap in the first place.
